BC Renfest needs a few more actors

    Thursday, March 29, 2007, 6:03 PM [General]

    BC Renaissance Festival

    Run: July 27, 28 & 29th, 2007

Main formal auditions have already been run. Additional auditions will be in person and on tape. Please email Christina in order to set up a meeting. First come first to receive an opportunity.

    Require:
We are recasting one of the pirates. Floats: Visually 20-30 yrs. Pirate crew member. A little lost at times but tries to keep up with his 'mate', Cobbs. It appears as if Floats has been around Cobbs for a while. Glib.

We are also looking for a few more 'villagers'. These actors are responsible for their own characters (creation of the characters as well as their roaming schedule) but must meet with Christina to talk over character types and get approval. These actors support the storyline and provide atmosphere during the day by being part of the 'Village of Steller's Grove'. No pirates for villagers and roaming characters as there are pirates in the storyline.

Special Villagers: Some of the villagers are also understudies for the ensemble/ main storyline cast. We still need understudies for:

    * Cobbs (first mate ) & Gabbo (Lord and dandy): This person can be a townsfolk tradesman or almost any job. This actor will also have to learn both swordplay for both characters.

    * Possible 'spare' pirate understudy. This person can be a townsfolk tradesman or almost any job. This actor may have to learn some swordplay, just in case.

    * The Duke of Sussex (arrived in Steller's Grove to take census) & Sheriff (ready for a fight and bored out of his skull as he has gone from excitement to sleepy Steller's Grove) : This person would be the Town Lord/Land owner. This actor will also have to learn the Sheriff's swordplay.

*The Duchess (wife to the Duke): This person will be the Town Lady. (May have this one - will know next week - If interested I'll still take name and such)

*I am also looking for a villager who can do 'media relations' for us. It is an easy job to learn and you will be the first face media sees when they arrive. You must be a 'go getter' and able to function on your own. If you are interested please state that in your introductory email.

Stage Performers: We are still looking to fill some of the time spots for the stages. If you feel you have a stage show, performance or special skill that belongs with us that weekend, we would love to hear from you.

Any special info: Singing is not necessary but recommended. At the end of the day we will have a pub sing and it would be wonderful if everyone got to sing. You are allowed to recommend a song for yourself or ask for one that is already listed. Once accepted as a villager and/or cast you will gain access to the Yahoo group where all of the additional info, including the pubsing tunes, are stored for all to see.

ALL roles and performances are volunteer. We are sending invites and tickets out to Casting Directors and Agents and providing a tent for performers sales and promotions. Items like CDs, DVDs, your flyers, headshots, etc. can be placed and sold here. If you are planning on sales you must be responsible for your own merchandise.

That crew of mine? Part of the Crew Of The Jade Dragon (BC Renfest's pirate ship). At least the crew on TLAP Day. Now if we can only get a real tall masted beauty I'd be flyin' high!!

I'm delighted to be able to do a pirate theme for our first year for BCRF. I'm really looking forward to it!! We finally auditioned our last pirate and start sword training soon. Me a happy captain!!
